Carlos Pena told MLB Network Radio that the Yankees have contacted him about potentially filling their void at DH, but he’s keeping all his options open, the station tweeted Sunday.

The 33-year-old Pena hit .225 (.357 on-base percentage) with 28 home runs and 80 RBIs for the Cubs last season. He also plays first base meaning he could fill in occasionally for Mark Teixeira.

Pena’s splits were staggering -- he hit .255 against righties and .133 versus lefties. But Andruw Jones should get his share of at-bats against southpaws, and Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Teixeira will all get their share of DH days as well.

A source told ESPN NewYork.com’s Andrew Marchand that if the Yankees do add a bat, they’ll do so for the “right price in a late deal.”

Pena made almost $10 million last season, but almost certainly have to take a pay cut to join the Bombers.
