The Yankees have agreed on a $1 million plus incentives contract with Raul Ibanez. Now, they can turn their attention to Eric Chavez.

The Yankees like the idea of adding Chavez as a valet for Alex Rodriguez and Chavez likes the idea of being a Yankee. With that mutual understanding, they have to figure out the money. Considering that Chavez thought about retiring and has plenty of dough, they are expected to come to an agreement.

If Chavez signs, then the chances of Bill Hall, Brandon Laird or Ramiro Pena making the team decrease. Hall was signed on a minor league deal. Of course, since Chavez has a tendency to end up injured, Hall, Laird and Pena would be wise to stay ready.
