Mariano Rivera, famous -- or notorious -- for never making road trips in spring training, will break with long-standing precedent this year when the Yankees travel to Miami for two games against the Marlins at the opening of their new ballpark.

"If I got to make a road trip, this isn't a bad one to go on,'' said Rivera, who added he was happy the team would fly from Tampa to Miami rather than endure a four-hour bus ride.

Rivera, who said he would throw his first bullpen session of the spring on Sunday, displayed the pair of road gray pants that are hung in his locker every spring as a joke by the clubbies.

"I guess this year, I gotta wear them,'' he said.
