Greetings from Dunedin, a sleepy little town on the Gulf Coast that doesn't appear to have changed much since the last time I was here -- which was when Dave Winfield played for the Blue Jays and I was covering spring training for Baseball America. These days I'm an editor at ESPN New York, down here on a busman's holiday, and I've been pressed into dusting off my Radio Shack TRS-80 for the day because Wally's back in Tampa waiting for the results of David Robertson's MRI. (Note to Leon: My expense report won't cost you much, I promise.)
Anyway, Wally's already posted the lineup, so I'll check in every now and then with an update and some thoughts after Ivan Nova's stint. A-Rod and Mark Teixeira are here, too -- I had a chance to watch them take BP on a back field in Tampa yesterday under the watchful eyes of Lou Piniella and Reggie Jackson. We'll see if that pays off when they face the Jays' Brett Cecil in a bit.
It's 76 degrees and sunny with an easterly breeze, so I'm going to go soak up some sunspots. More later.
