In his pregame chat with the New York media, prior to today's spring training game between the Yankees and Rays, Yankees manager Joe Girardi was asked for an update on Nick Swisher.

The Yankees' right fielder was removed in the third inning of last night's game against the Pirates, after tweaking his right groin. Swisher had missed the previous few games because of a similar injury to his left groin.

"I saw him early this morning, he said he felt OK," said Girardi. "We’ll just take it day by day and decide when we’re gonna get him back in there. There’s no rush. … If it takes a few days, it takes a few days."

As for Jeter, Girardi said he is still targeting Friday for his shortstop to return to the lineup -- partly because of the long road trips for today's game in Port Charlotte, and tomorrow's game in Fort Myers against the Red Sox.
