Since Joe Girardi once managed the Marlins he should understand the Ozzie Guillen situation in Miami better than most. The Marlins suspended Guillen five games for comments he made supporting Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

"Obviously, it is a difficult situation," Girardi said. "Only time is going to tell what is going to happen. [The Cuban community] is important to that area. You start talking about Dade county and the amount of Latin Americans down there, it is a big contingency. As people, I think it is always important how we choose our words. I'm always careful and I'm careful about what I talk about. Even some thing I think I know I'm careful about what I say."

The Marlins fired Girardi after just one year. It still remains to be seen if Guillen lasts that long.
