The just-retired Jorge Posada will throw out the first pitch at Friday's home opener against the Angels. He will become the 11th former player to receive the honor in the Yankees' 110 home openers.

"It will be a special moment for him," said Derek Jeter.

Posada will also be given the "Pride of the Yankees Award" at the Yankees' Homecoming Dinner on Thursday night. The pregame ceremonies are slated to begin at 12:40 p.m. on Friday.

"Knowing him, it is going to be emotional, definitely," said Mariano Rivera. "It is gonna be good. It will be nice to see him."

Rivera said he would be interested in reversing roles with his longtime catcher and being the one on the receiving end of Posada's pitch.

Jeremy Jordan, one of the stars of the Broadway musical "Newsies," will sing the national anthem, which will be followed by a Navy F-18 Super Hornet ceremonial flyover. A giant American flag will be unfurled by 75 West Point cadets, while the West Point Color Guard will present the colors.

During the seventh-inning stretch, Paul Nolan of the Broadway hit "Jesus Christ Superstar" will perform “God Bless America.”
