The Angels had the go-ahead run at the plate in the seventh inning but couldn't capitalize. Given the chance to tack on some runs in the bottom of the frame, the Yankees went to work by adding three more and now lead 11-5.

After Rafael Soriano gave up a run and loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, David Robertson retired Mark Trumbo to keep the score at 8-5.

In the bottom of the frame, Nick Swisher collected the Yankees' fifth hit of the night with runners in scoring position to extend the lead to 9-5. Raul Ibanez followed with a monstrous shot into the upper deck that made it 11-5.
