DJ4K? Girardi says it is "kind of crazy"

A reporter asked Joe Girardi if Derek Jeter could have 4,000 hits.

"I think that is kind of crazy to think about," Girardi said in the pre-game. "You are talking about five years of trying to get 200 hits, in a sense. It is less than that. I know that. I'm not ready to dive into that one yet.

"When we talked about Derek Jeter last year when he was struggling, I said, 'I would never doubt Derek Jeter can do.' I'm not doubting that it can happen. As I know, we are a long ways away from that."

Jeter entered Monday with 3,103 hits.
