Curtis Granderson just had the Web Gem of the Yankees season so far.
The center fielder made a back-handed grab in front of the left-center wall on a ball that seemed destined to get in for a hit and robbed Justin Morneau of a run-scoring double in the seventh inning. Making the play more impressive was how Granderson had plenty of distance to cover to even get there and when he caught the ball it was in its drop.
He received a standing ovation from the fans for that play and his teammates were waiting for him at the top of the steps to congratulate him on the catch that kept the score at 5-3 heading to the bottom of the seventh. Granderson also hit a home run tonight.
