Alfredo Aceves, who has been on the DL since May12 with a bad back, had a setback. Throwing off flat ground on Tuesday, Aceves didn't feel right. There is a chance when he will return to New York for further tests.

JAVY READY: Javy Vazquez had his bullpen session on Tuesday and he came through it fine. He is good to go for Thursday's start. Vazquez had bruised his index finger in outing against the Mets.

GRAND RETURN:Curtis Granderson will return to the Yankees on Friday if his next two games go fine. Granderson, out with a groin injury, will be back in center. The Yankees have no thoughts of keeping Brett Gardner in center.

"We will move Gardy back to left," Girardi said.
