Still no surgery date for Mariano Rivera, which is not unusual with knee injuries, bcause surgeons prefer for the swelling to subside before they go in. Brett Gardner, suffering from a right elbow strain, is still five days or so from swinging a bat again. And according to Joe Girardi, Joba Chamberlain is "just playing catch,'' but looking good doing it in the video tapes the manager has seen.
