What do the Yankees see in first-round pick Ty Hensley?
"We’re really excited [about] this guy, just because he’s got the ideal pitchers body," said Damon Oppenheimer, who is in charge of the Yankees' draft. "He’s got a fastball that we’ve had up to 97, it’s plus. He’s got a power curveball, and he’s got really good work ethic and makeup. So we think we had a chance with a guy who has a high ceiling here."
Hensley is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound righty from Santa Fe HS in Edmond, OK. He has already said that he wants to be in the majors by 21. He is 18 now.
One other note, the Yankees drafted Jose Mesa's son, Jesse, who is also a pitcher. They took him in the 24th round.
