WASHINGTON -- Alex Rodriguez doesn't know Jimmie Foxx from Redd Foxx.

That became obvious this morning when he was asked about tying the Hall of Famer for sixth place on baseball's all-time RBI list with 1,924 on Friday night. The same player who last week boasted of all the "reading and research" he had done on Lou Gehrig, who he tied for the all-time record in grand slams with 23, admitted he only knew one fact about the former Philadelphia Athletics/Boston Red Sox infielder.

"Any time I did anything special as a young player it was always on pace with Foxx," he said. "Foxx always did it a little younger. So I’ve always been intrigued by this Foxx guy. F-O-X-X, right?"

Right.

"All I know is he beat me at everything when I was younger," Rodriguez added. "Now Bryce (Harper) has gotta worry about that. I’m done with that man."

Not quite. One more RBI to go.
