• Hiroki Kuroda allowed as many runs Tuesday night, four, as he had in his past four starts dating back to May 21, but he did give the Yankees seven innings and he was certainly not the reason they lost the game, 4-3, to the Braves, or that their 10-game winning streak came to an end. That was partially due to the failure of the Yankees hitters to come through in the clutch, and partially due to two big plays in the field by Atlanta.

"I thought he threw a pretty decent game,'' Joe Girardi said. "He did a pretty good job of not giving up a lot of hits, but it seemed like the hits were extra-base hits that led to some runs.''

• Nick Swisher hit well in his first game back after missing two games with a deep thigh bruise suffered on a slide into home plate in Washington on Saturday, but admitted afterward that the injury is still not 100 percent healed.

"You know, during batting practice I felt a lot better than I felt in the game,'' he said. "But it’s one of those things, you can’t hurt it any worse than it already is, and if you can deal with the pain you can get through there.''

Asked if he would play Wednesday, Swisher said: "Oh, Ill be in there tomorrow, absolutely. Ready to go.''

• This was the first game all season at Yankee Stadium in which neither team hit a home run, and after winning their first game without hitting a home run on Sunday in Washington, the Yankees lost for the 13th time this season when they failed to go yard at least once.

• Kuroda's seven-inning stint marked the 19th straight game in which a Yankee starter went at least six innings, the longest streak in the majors and the Yankees' longest streak in 31 years. In 1981, Yankees starters also went 19 straight games of at least six innings.
