The Yankees announced they have acquired Darnell McDonald off waivers from the Red Sox, and the 33-year-old, who plays all three outfield positions, will join the team on Friday in time to face his former teammates at Fenway Park. McDonald batted .214 with 2 HRs and 9 RBI in 38 games for the Red Sox. The Yankees will announce a roster move on Friday to accomodate McDonald on the major-league roster. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated RHP Chris Schwinden , claimed off waivers earlier in the week, for assignment.
