WHAT IT MEANS: Robinson Cano heard plenty of boos during MLB All-Star events in Kansas City, Mo.
But back home in the Bronx, Cano hears nothing but cheers. And he got plenty of love on Saturday afternoon.
Cano had three RBIs -- including a two-run homer in the first inning -- to lead the Yanks to a 5-3 win over the Angels.
New York has won three straight, including two in a row over Los Angeles to open the second half.
At 54-33, the Yankees continue to own the best record in baseball.
HOMER HAPPY: Once again, the Yankees used the long ball to get a win. Not only did they get one from Cano (his 21st), but Curtis Granderson also hit his 24th -- a two-run shot -- in the third.
The Yankees lead the majors with 138 home runs.
STEADY FREDDY: Freddy Garcia gave up three runs on five hits over five innings to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Garcia struck out four but was touched up for two runs on three hits and a walk in the first.
Saturday's outing was another example of Garcia's career-long dominance of Los Angeles. In 27 career starts, Garcia is 16-3 against the Angels. That's the most wins against the Angels of any pitcher currently on a major league rooter.
Garcia has lost one of his past 15 starts against the Angels.
A-ROD OK: Alex Rodriguez got a rude reception in the Bronx on Friday night, getting booed after an 0-for-4 performance. But the crowd at Yankee Stadium on Saturday was a little more supportive.
A-Rod received pleasant applause all afternoon and got a loud ovation after his double in the sixth inning. Rodriguez later scored on a Cano single.
THE 'PEN: David Robertson pitched a scoreless eighth, and Rafael Soriano added a scoreless ninth to seal the win.
WHAT'S NEXT: Ivan Nova (10-3, 3.92 ERA) faces off against Jered Weaver (10-1, 1.96 ERA) in the series finale on Sunday afternoon.

Mo is now 17 for 17 in save opportunities. His best save start was 2008 when he was 28-for-28.

Lots of people want to Blame the Binder for leaving CC in. Fair point. I didn't first guess, but a fair point for those who did.
