A-Rod not sticking his neck out

Not yet, anyway. Alex Rodriguez, who was switched from third base to designated hitter shortly before the start of Monday night's game due to a "slight stiff neck,'' is the DH again tonight.

Joe Girardi said he did not check with A-Rod before making out the lineup card, and plans to play him at third for Wednesday afternoon's series finale with the Blue Jays while giving Derek Jeter a DH day.

Rodriguez, who Giardi said could not turn his head to the right after sleeping the wrong way Sunday night, turned his head to the left to say his neck was "better'' before heading out for batting practice today. Asked if he could turn his head the other way, he said, "No'' -- while looking straight ahead.
