Notes: Manager Joe Girardi said Joba Chamberlain is scheduled to pitch on Friday, his
fourth rehab appearance with the Yankees’ Gulf Coast League affiliate. Girardi
said he’s not ready to plan on Chamberlain’s return until he sees him pitch in
back-to-back games… Chris Stewart got the nod at catcher on Thursday because
Russell Martin caught in hot weather on Wednesday and the team then had a long
flight to the West Coast. “Keep both catchers fresh,” Girardi said… Girardi said
he was not disappointed with the rain-shortened game on Wednesday because it
saved him from possibly needing closer Rafael Soriano for what would have been
his fifth game in six days. “I’m not sure what we would have done,” Girardi
said.
