Here is the Yankees’ lineup that will face Red Sox lefty Jon Lester on Saturday afternoon:
Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Andruw Jones LF
Jayson Nix 3B
Russell Martin DH
Ichiro Suzuki RF
Chris Stewart C
CC Sabathia LHP
Interesting lineup, necessitated largely by injuries. With Nick Swisher out again, Yankees are using Andruw Jones, who would normally DH against a left-handed starter, in the outfield and Russell Martin as the DH. The left-handed hitting Eric Chavez, who got hit above the right ankle by a pitch Friday night, probably would not have started against Lester, and with Alex Rodriguez on the DL, Jayson Nix gets the start at third base. Given the choice of two left-handed hitters, Ichiro Suzuki and Raul Ibanez, for right-field, Joe Girardi opted for Ichiro because he has had more experience (8-for-29, .276 as opposed to 4-for-12, .333) against Lester than Ibanez.

Mo is now 17 for 17 in save opportunities. His best save start was 2008 when he was 28-for-28.

Lots of people want to Blame the Binder for leaving CC in. Fair point. I didn't first guess, but a fair point for those who did.

RT @DanBarbarisi: Shawn Kelley notches two more strikeouts, sandwiched around an IBB. Now has an insane 32 in 18 innings.
