Rodriguez: 'So far, so good'

8/14/2012

Alex Rodriguez, scheduled to undergo an X-ray on his broken left hand later today, told reporters he's doing well.

"So far, so good," Rodriguez said.

The third baseman was tossing around a football before Tuesday's game, which is part of his conditioning during his rehab. He tossed the ball approximately 40 yards and had good accuracy, which isn't surprising considering he was a quarterback in high school.

Rodriguez was placed on the disabled list on July 25 after breaking his hand following being hit by a pitch against Seattle. The team expects to have him back in September, although his replacement, Eric Chavez, has been outstanding in his absence. Chavez is batting .293 with 13 home runs and 30 RBIs, and is hitting .471 in his past 10 games.
