What happened to the pitching duel? This was supposed to be one for the ages.
Instead, the Yankees, at least on this night, made Roy Halladay looked aged. Meanwhile, CC Sabathia -- who came out on fire, recording strikeouts in six of his first nine outs -- threw well enough to win, going seven innings and just giving up three runs.
Next to the Tuesday night Halladay, CC looked like Cy Young. Halladay gave up the most home runs in one game in his career. Eight other times he had allowed three homers in a game. Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeiraall went deep to give Halladay his ninth three homer game.
So the World Series rematch -- with Halladay replacing Cliff Lee -- started off how October ended. The Yankees and their fans were celebrating all night.
