Derek Jeter is not in the first-game lineup, because of his ankle and the fact that it is a day-night doubleheader. Joe Girardi said he expects to start Jeter at short in the second game. Jeter will do some drills between games to make sure his ankle is up to it. He told Girardi that he is feeling better after not having played short in a week.
If all goes right with Jeter, Girardi's plan is to start Alex Rodriguez at DH in the nightcap.
