TORONTO -- The Yankees could clinch a postseason spot today with a win over the Blue Jays and a win by the Texas Rangers over the L.A. Angels. But Joe Girardi said there would be no celebration by his club until it clinched the AL East, for which the magic number is five.

Besides, regardless of the outcome of their game with the Blue Jays, the Yankees will not know their fate until long after the have left the Rogers Centre. The Rangers-Angels game doesn't start until 4:05 p.m., raising the possibility that the Yankees could learn they have made the playoffs around dinnertime.

"In that case, maybe I'll have dessert," Girardi said.
