TORONTO -- Not in the regular season, anyway, and probably not unless the Yankees make it to the ALCS, if then.

According to Joe Girardi, the MRI on Jayson Nix, the backup infielder who has filled in capably at three infield positions, revealed a Grade 1 strain of the left hip flexor and he will be out of action for 10-14 days.

"It does affect us because he's a guy that's played second, third, short for us," Girardi said. "We'll have to see how he is when we get back and maybe he could progress a little bit quicker than that. We’ll just have to see."

Nix suffered the injury while playing third base in place of Alex Rodriguez on Thursday night. His absence leaves Eduardo Nunez as the only backup middle infielder on the roster.
