Yankees GM Brian Cashman appeared on "Sunday Morning with Ian O'Connor" on ESPN New York 98.7 FM. Among the issues discussed were the futures of Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Long and the age of the Yankees' roster.

Cashman repeated what he had said after the Game 4 loss to the Tigers on Thursday, that A-Rod is "an above-average third baseman'' and said that although a trade was "unrealistic,'' he would listen if any teams inquired.

He also said hitting coach Long's "job is safe'' despite the lineup's collapse in the postseason.
