Alex Rodriguez undergoes surgery on his left hip today -- the other hip (he had surgery on the right one in 2009) -- but it is unlikely we will know when, or even if, the soon-to-be 38-year-old third baseman will return to action this season.
The surgeon, Bryan Kelly, admitted on a conference call last week that he would not know how much damage was really done to A-Rod's hip until he got in there, and the two-hour procedure is a lot more complicated than simply going in and repairing a torn labrum.
We'll have all the details later when the Yankees announce the results of the surgery.
