Morning (non-Jeter) Notes

TAMPA, Fla. -- Most of the pregame talk, as you can imagine, concerned the latest developments with Derek Jeter, who will not play today and is likely headed to the disabled list for the start of the season due to recurring pain in his ankle after a comparatively light day of work on Saturday.

But there is other news in Yankeeland today, to wit:

MARIANO OK: Mariano Rivera, who was suffering from a migraine yesterday, had some tests done, which came back negative. GM Brian Cashman said all Mo had was a headache. He is on the list to pitch today sometime after starter Adam Warren.

BOESCH, TOO: Brennan Boesch, who suffered some soreness in his ribcage on Friday, "feels good," according to Cashman. He is not in the lineup today but according to the GM, "He thinks we're being overly cautious."

TOMORROW IS WANG'S DAY: The Yankees are off on Monday, no players at the park and no clubhouse access. But their newest acquisition, Chien-Ming Wang, will throw a bullpen at the Himes Ave. minor-league complex in the morning. Wang was signed to a minor-league deal to serve as rotation help for AAA Scranton and, if he progresses enough, possible emergency help in the Yankees' rotation in the event of injury.
