ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Kevin Youkilis was a late scratch from tonight's Yankees-Rays game. A Yankees spokesman said Youkilis' lower back tightened up after batting practice.

Youkilis left Saturday's game against the Blue Jays after five innings, having experienced tightness in his lower back. Joe Girardi held him out of the lineup on Sunday, but both he and Youkilis agreed the infielder would probably be in the lineup tonight against Rays lefty Matt Moore.

And Youkilis was in the original Yankees lineup, playing first base and batting cleanup until about 40 minutes before first pitch, when it was announced he had been scratched. Lyle Overbay will now play first and bat eighth in the lineup.

The revised Yankees lineup is as follows:

Gardner CF
Francisco DH
Cano 2B
Wells LF
Cervelli C
Boesch RF
Nunez SS
Overbay 1B
Nix 3B
