NEW YORK -- Here is the lineup for Thursday night's series opener between the Yankees and Rays. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

Manager Joe Girardi is sticking with Vernon Wells, despite the fact that Wells is hitting .121 since May 16 (13-for-107). "We still believe he can get it done," Girardi said, "Tonight would be a great night to start."

Girardi is going with Jayson Nix at third base and Reid Brignac at shortstop because he feels it's his best defensive lineup with Andy Pettitte, a contact pitcher, on the mound. Girardi said he'll continue to platoon David Adams and Brignac.

Brett Gardner CF
Jayson Nix 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Travis Hafner DH
