NEW YORK -- Off the field, Yankees GM Brian Cashman was telling Alex Rodriguez to "Shut the f--- up," while on the field Ichiro Suzuki hit a solo shot in the ninth for the game winner.

WHAT IT MEANS: Ichiro with a feel-good moment for the Yankees, as they suddenly morphed into the Bronx Bombers for one night. All of their runs were on solo shots. They hit four of them.

HOPE SOLO: Before Ichiro, Travis Hafner, Brett Gardner and Jayson Nix all went deep off Yu Darvish to lock the game at three after six innings.

Besides the homers, the Yankees didn't score off Darvish, but chased him with one out in the sixth after he threw 110 pitches. In the first, Darvish gave up three singles, but Lyle Overbay and Zoilo Almonte could not bring anyone home. A Chris Stewart single was the seventh hit off Darvish. Stewart would be the final batter Darvish faced, having given up the three homers and the four singles.

SOLID HIRO: Hiroki Kuroda pitched a little better than Darvish. Kuroda pitched well enough to win, but ended up with another no-decision. He finished the night by lasting into the seventh. In his 6 2/3 innings, he allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits. Kuroda struck out six and walked just one.

SOLID PEN: In relief of Kuroda, Boone Logan, David Robertson and Mariano Rivera held down the fort. Rivera got the win.

ON DECK: There could be more news after the game as Mark Teixeira saw doctors on Tuesday. The Yankees could announce that he will have season-ending wrist surgery or they may decide on a new course of rehab to try to get him back on the field.
