NEW YORK -- Ichiro Suzuki said it with a laugh, but when he went up to the plate in the bottom of the ninth against Texas' Tanner Scheppers, he had one goal.

"I was trying to end the game," Ichiro said.

That he did. Ichiro's solo shot finished off the Bronx Bombers' 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers. Yes, for Tuesday night at least, the Yankees could be called the Bronx Bombers again. The Yankees hit four homers, all solo shots, in the win. It was their first game-ending hit of the season.

"That's Yankee baseball," Chris Stewart said of the power output. "You haven't seen that much of it this year."

For Ichiro, it was his second career game-ending homer. His other? It was against none other than Mariano Rivera on Sept. 18, 2009.

On the mound, Hiroki Kuroda outpitched Yu Darvish. Kuroda has been involved in every all-Japanese matchup in major league history. It was the second time he had faced Darvish. He lost 2-0 when they met in April 2012.

On Tuesday, Kuroda gave up three runs, but he received three in support from homers by Travis Hafner, Brett Gardner and Jayson Nix. Nix tied the game with a solo shot in the sixth.

When you add it all up, it was Joe Girardi's 599th win. His next victory will make him the 16th manager in team history to reach 600.
