Tex under the knife

MINNEAPOLIS -- It may be a day late and a few words short, but the Yankees finally got around to officially announcing that Mark Teixeira's wrist surgery had, in fact, taken place.

Here is the release that moved about 7:35 p.m. New York time tonight:

"On Monday, 1B Mark Teixeira underwent surgery at NYU Hospital to repair a tendon sheath in his right wrist. The surgery, performed by Dr. Keith Raskin, went as planned."

Presumably, that means Tex still has two hands and 10 fingers. Earlier in the day, Teixeira had taken it upon himself to tweet the good news on Twitter:
