CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Alex Rodriguez's second game of his 2013 rehab tour was as uneventful as his first, as he went 0-for-2 for the second night in a row for the Class A Charleston RiverDogs.

In his first at-bat, he tapped harmlessly to the first baseman, who tossed easily to the pitcher covering for the out, while in the bottom of the third, he again chopped a pitch to the second baseman for an easy out.

In the field, he finally recorded an out in the top of the third, fielding a grounder and kick-starting a double play by throwing on target to the second baseman, who rifled to first in time to get the runner and end the inning.

WHAT IT MEANS: More work is needed for A-Rod if he hopes to contribute to the Yankees any time soon, much less by July 22, when he'll be eligible to play.

CASH COW: Well, kind of. Rodriguez's two appearances in Charleston certainly had an effect on the gate with sellouts both nights, and they had an impact at the souvenir shop. Merchandise director Michael DeAntonio said online sales hit a season high Tuesday from about 6 p.m. until midnight, with orders coming in from California, New York, Connecticut, Georgia, Minnesota and Florida.

"It never hurts to have your logo on 'SportsCenter,'" DeAntonio said.

PAPER PROBLEMS: Among the unforeseen impacts of A-Rod's trip to Charleston was that on the RiverDogs' supply of printer paper. In an effort to conserve paper, some press box lineups for Wednesday's game were printed on UPS shipping labels.

TAKE A SEAT: Rome (Ga.) Braves outfielder Kyle Wren, son of Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren, was not in the lineup Wednesday after leading off Tuesday's game with a bunt that tested the mobility of Rodriguez's left hip. Wren, a Georgia Tech product, told reporters after the game that the bunt was his idea.

E-6: Eduardo Nunez's night didn't get off to a great start. In the first inning, Rome's Casey Kalenkosky smacked a line drive that Nunez had to jump to avoid and that went straight through his legs, barely missing a sensitive area.

In the same inning, Nunez also missed turning a double play and failed to get a ball hit to his right that was fieldable but squirted into right for the third Braves hit of the inning.

WHAT'S NEXT: Rodriguez will leave Charleston to join the Advanced A Tampa Yankees as they travel to Lakeland, Fla., for two games.
