Joe Girardi said Brett Gardner is OK, just getting a day off. Gardner has started all but two of the Yankees' 85 games this season, and appeared in the other two as a pinch-hitter. ... Girardi said Mariano Rivera was likely "to spend the day in his rocking chair," meaning the old guy probably has the holiday off.
