Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is only six days away from a potential call-up to the Bronx. He continued his rehab assignment on Tuesday night with the Double-A Trenton Thunder.

Here's a breakdown of how A-Rod did:

AT THE PLATE: It was a relatively uneventful day at the dish for Rodriguez.

He went 0-for-3 with an RBI on a sacrifice fly. He sandwiched a line out to left and hit a sac fly to center field. He also grounded out to third in the seventh.

Rodriguez is 5-for-28 with one home run and six strikeouts in 10 rehab games.

His lone homer came on Monday night -- a deep shot to left center. Rodriguez called the home run the best swing he's taken in a year.

The Yankees could use more swings like that from Rodriguez if and when they call him up to the bigs.

Rodrgiuez could return to the majors on July 22 against the Rangers in Texas, which would mark the end of his 20-day minor league rehab assignment.

His plan for Wednesday is unclear at this point.

IN THE FIELD:
Rodriguez was barely tested in his seven innings at third base. He failed to get to a single between the shortstop-third base hole in the fourth but handled a chance in the fifth, starting an inning-ending 5-4-3 double play.

ON THE BASES: Not much to report here, other than Rodriguez, who had hip surgery in January, moved well down the first-base line. Rodriguez has been timed making the run from home to first in 4.4 to 4.5 seconds.

WHAT'S NEXT: Unclear at this point. Rodriguez might play in Trenton's Wednesday afternoon game against the Reading Fightin Phils. Fans have had a mixed reaction to Rodriguez here in Reading. Rodriguez, who was questioned by MLB about his role in the Biogenesis saga last Friday, has been showered with "steroids" chants while in the on-deck circle but has been otherwise cheered by the Fightin Phils' faithful.
