NEW YORK -- Phil Hughes is out. David Huff is in.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced following Tuesday's game that he's removing Hughes from the rotation and giving Huff the start against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Huff threw 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball in place of Hughes following a nearly two-hour rain delay Monday. On the season, he is 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA in nine appearances.

Hughes has been dreadful this season. He has a 4-13 record and a 4.86 ERA in 26 starts. Hughes has surrendered 23 homers in 137 innings. He is 1-9 at Yankee Stadium.
