Gardy leaves with oblique strain

BALTIMORE -- Center fielder Brett Gardner left tonight's Yankees-Orioles game in the first inning after apparently injuring himself on the first at-bat of the game.

Gardner appeared to flinch and reach for his left side after he struck out on a check swing leading off the game. Curtis Granderson took his place in center field when the Yankees took the field in the bottom of the first.

Gardner was diagnosed with a left oblique strain.
