NEW YORK -- Call off the search party.

The mystery of the missing Carlos Beltran has been cleared up.

The holdup was not contractual, but logistical -- the 36-year-old outfielder has been traveling and the Yankees have been trying to arrange to get him to New York for his introductory press conference, which according to a source will take place on Friday at Yankee Stadium.

The source said Beltran, who has a history of knee problems, passed his physical and the finishing touches are being put on his three-year, $45 million contract.
