NEW YORK -- In addition to signing Brett Gardner to a one-year deal, the Yankees came to terms with RHPs Ivan Nova, David Robertson and Shawn Kelley, and officially parted ways with Vernon Wells, who was unconditionally released after having been designated for assignment last week.
Aside from the $5.6 million a source told ESPNNewYork.com the Yankees will pay Gardner, terms were not announced for Nova, Robertson or Kelley. Nova enters training camp as the No. 3 starter in the Yankees' rotation, behind Hiroki Kuroda and CC Sabathia. Robertson is expected to succeed the retired Mariano Rivera as the team's closer. And Kelley, who was effective in middle relief last season, will likely get a shot at inheriting Robertson's old job as the eighth-inning setup man.
