But since Wednesday is supposed to be worse, weather-wise, you know the Yankees and Mariners are going to try their best to get Tuesday's game in.
Cano, of course, will play for Seattle, batting third in its otherwise non-threatening lineup. Ellsbury is out of the Yanks lineup, for Tuesday and maybe Wednesday as well, because of a sore left hand.
Provided the weather holds up, here is the lineup Joe Girardi is sending out against righty Chris Young:
CC Sabathia, LHP
NOTES: There's potentially troubling news out of Tampa, where Michael Pineda -- currently under suspension, but scheduled to open the series against the Angels in Anaheim on Monday -- pulled himself out of a simulated game with soreness in his right lat. Pineda was said to be undergoing an MRI, but even without knowing the result, Girardi said Pineda's Monday start was "obviously in jeopardy." ... Sabathia (3-2, 4.78) has been dominant against the Mariners, with a 12-4 lifetime record and 2.48 ERA against them. At Yankee Stadium, he is 4-1 with a 2.79. He is unbeaten in his last nine starts against Seattle, going 8-0 with a 1.36 ERA during that span. ... Young has started four times against the Yankees (1-0, 5.52), the last time in 2012 while with the Mets. None of the Yankees have much of a career sample against him, but Suzuki is 8-for-21 (.381) with two home runs, and Beltran is 2-for-4 with a home run.
NEW YORK -- Robinson Cano is in, but Jacoby Ellsbury is out, and the rain and cold are here (and for the next three days, according to weather reports).
