CHICAGO -- Masahiro Tanaka had gone 42 starts without a a loss before losing to the Cubs on Tuesday. So what does Joe Girardi expect to see when Tanaka faces the White Sox on Sunday?

"We'll see how he handles it. I'm sure he'll handle it well, just like he has everything else," Girardi said. "Maybe it will make him mad and he'll roll off 44."

After losing to the Cubs, 6-1, on Tuesday, Tanaka admitted he has a little extra motivation for Sunday.

"I try to go out there and do my best every time," Tanaka said. "But, given the outing last time, I really want to go out there and perform better."

Tanaka is 6-1 with a 2.39 ERA.
