BALTIMORE -- Derek Jeter said he doesn't know what to expect at the All-Star Game. The rest of us, we have a pretty good idea. It is going to be one big tribute to Jeter's legendary career.

Whatever occurs in Minnesota over the next two days, the 40-year-old Jeter is going to take it all in with family and friends, who will be on hand.

"I'm going to just try to enjoy it," said Jeter, a 14-time All-Star.

Jeter has some great memories from the games, but his best story comes from Fenway Park in 1999.

"In Boston, I remember they had all the players come out to surround Ted Williams," said Jeter, remembering the All-Century ceremonies. "I remember getting a tap on my shoulder, and it was Hank Aaron saying he wanted to meet me. I was like, 'You want to meet me? What is wrong with you?' It was Hank Aaron."

Now, everyone will surround Jeter, paying tribute to what he has represented to the game and how he has performed.

“I am curious to see how it’s handled with Derek," New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "That’s the intrigue of the game for me.”

As for Jeter, he will savor the game, just like the all the others.

"I always look forward to All-Star Games," Jeter said. "I've never taken any of them for granted. They are all special to the city that they are in. It is exciting for us as players."
