ARLINGTON, Texas -- Before Monday's game against the Texas Rangers, the Yankees recalled outfielder Zoilo Almonte from AAA Scranton and designated LHP Jeff Francis for assignment. Francis made two appearances as a Yankee, one a victory in the 14-inning game against the Rangers on July 22, and the second a brief appearance in the 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday, when he allowed a ninth-inning home run to Dan Johnson. Almonte has appeared in 10 games this season. He is batting .160 with one home run and one RBI.
