NEW YORK --- For the Yankees, it is another day and another Cy Young Award winner on the mound.

Next up for the Yankees is Justin Verlander. While the name is just as scary as the first two Cy Young Award winners the Yankees faced, Verlander's performance this year has not lived up to the reputation.

Verlander is just 10-9 with a 4.38 ERA. His velocity is down a little and he hasn't been the same dominant guy.

His last two times out, though, he has pitched pretty well. Against the Angels, he gave up three runs in seven innings in a loss on July 26th. His last time out, on Friday, he allowed just two runs in eight innings, striking out five and walking none.

In his career, Verlander hasn't been great against the Yankees, as he is just 5-5 with a 3.84 in 15 starts.

Still, Verlander definitely has the matchup edge going against Chris Capuano (0-1 with a 4.38 ERA).
