Cisco on CC: He's the king Francisco Cervelli says he's feeling better at the plate in the last two weeks. But you don't have to believe what he says -- the numbers speak for themselves.
Cervelli, the sporadically-used backup for Russell Martin, has six hits in his last five starts, including a three-hit day on Thursday, raising his average from .176 to .231.
"I was struggling two weeks ago, but I feel better," he said.
Cervelli also caught a phenomenal game, helping CC Sabathia tie his career-high with 13 strikeouts in the Yankees' 5-0 win.
"I just put the glove out and he throws it," Cervelli said. "He's the king here."
Cervelli did more than that, throwing out Carlos Gomez on a swinging strike three that skipped past him. Cervelli quickly gathered the ball and threw on a short-hop to Mark Teixeira, who made the scoop to nail Gomez on a bang-bang play.
