Crasnick: Yanks may have to get 'B level' pitcher or stand pat

The Yankees took their shots at acquiring Ubaldo Jimenez and, more recently, James Shields.

But they missed, and more than likely, they'll have to settle for a less talented pitcher if they decide to pursue a trade, ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick said on SportsCenter Saturday evening.

Crasnick mentioned some "B level" hurlers the Yankees could go after: Dodgers right-hander Hideki Kuroda (6-12, 3.19), Astros left-hander Wandy Rodriguez (6-6, 3.67) or Orioles right-hander Jeremy Guthrie (4-13, 4.35).

As far as Rodriguez is concerned, Crasnick noted that he has a favorable contract -- he's signed through 2013. At the same time, there is some concern that his stuff might not translate as well in the AL.

Crasnick concluded that the Yankees may very well have to stand pat, which is a scary proposition given the way Phil Hughes just pitched on Friday night.
