Posada puts Yanks on the board
But his solo home run into the right-field bleachers off Tommy Hunter made just the slightest dent in the Orioles' lead, which is 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth. A.J. Burnett went Chernobyl in the six-run second, allowing two long home runs to Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy sandwiched around four consecutive doubles. Burnett also made an error on a roller to the left of the mound but it did him no damage when the Yankees turned an inning-ending double play. The Orioles added a seventh run in the fourth, courtesy of Burnett, who struck out Matt Angle but bounced his curveball past Russell Martin for a wild pitch that allowed Angle to reach first. Angle reached second on a walk to Robert Andino, got to third on another wild pitch and scored on an infield out. And now, not even Hurricane Irene can save Burnett; the Yankees have batted in the top of the fifth, meaning we have an official game.
