Chavez exits game in the fifth

Eric Chavez exited the game in the middle of his at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday night.

Facing a 1-2 count, Chavez called for time, stepped back into the box, and then had to call for time again. Manager Joe Girardi then came out to check on him, and eventually had to help Chavez off the field, into the dugout and toward the clubhouse.

It is unclear what happened to Chavez -- as soon as we know more, we'll let you know.

Eduardo Nunez replaced Chavez at the plate, struck out looking, and is now playing third base.

The Yankees trail the Orioles 1-0 in the top of the sixth inning.
