D-Rob headed to D.C.?

ATLANTA -- "Quite possibly,'' says Joe Girardi.

Dave Robertson, out since May 14 with a left oblique strain, has the day off today but is slated to throw another inning on Tuesday -- he threw 11 pitches in a scoreless inning for the AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees on Sunday -- and if all goes well, could rejoin the team for this weekend's series against the Nationals in Washington, D.C.

"We just need to make sure that his arm’s back in shape," Girardi said. "He only threw 11 pitches yesterday. I think he threw a few more in the bullpen. I hear no complaints today so that’s a good thing.''

When Robertson does return, Girardi has said he will go back to the same role he performed for Mariano Rivera, as the eighth-inning set-up man. Rafael Soriano , who blew his first save on Sunday after nailing down nine in a row, will remain the closer.
